Nao made the driver of the car stop a few blocks from the school, overriding his father who wanted him to be taken directly up. They argued for a few minutes, in which Nao fought with his backpack, shoving his notebooks back into it. Still fussing, he shouted a quick "Bye!" and "Love you!" to his father and rolled (almost literally) from the car. Clutching his backpack to his shoulder and his camera to his chest, Nao took off at a jog. He knew he was late, and on his first day!

It'd been hell convincing his parents to let him go to the local public school when they'd moved to this city. His mother had sobbed over lost academic chances and the dire certainty of being unable to get into any of the best universities if he had THAT kind of school on his transcript. It had taken all of Nao's will, which wasn't very great to start with, to keep his head and not give in to her pleadings. His father had simply asked him sternly if he was sure, then had gone to register him. And now, because of said sobbing mother, Nao was very... VERY... late for his registration appointment.

Huffing and puffing, he charged into the building. Skidding, he looked around for the office, and ran to it, smacking someone with the door in the process. "Oh! I'm so sorry!"

It was a beautiful day outside. Children were going to school for their first day, parents were tearfully letting them go. Others were hustling by on their bikes and their good ol' two feet trying to get from point A to point B as quickly as they could. The birds were singing, and in the distance, on the front lawn of the high school, one could faintly hear a boy whimpering in pain, as the blonde above him forced his fist down against the other's side.

The first bell for classes hadn't even rung yet and Byou was in the office already.

Smirking to himself, his foot bounced a little as he waited for the principal to call him into his personal office. The fat man came out, his face a porkish pink as he was huffing, probably from yelling, the other thought, as he looked up at him with his narrow eyes. The principal's beady black eyes looked back as he shrugged his head for Byou to come into the private room.

A stern talking and an offer for a sugar cookie later (which Byou easily declined), he was walking out of the office, with a content smile across his face. His grades were good, so the teachers didn't really bother him, in fact... they usually figured it was the other kid's fault.

The desk lady gave him a neutral stare. It was natural, when a boy came in with yellow hair... or really anyone through school, new people thought you were a Yanki. But he just smiled and winked and made his way to the door.

The first and second bells had already rung by the time his first lecture of the semester was finished, so he didn't feel like he needed to rush anywhere. All the first period teacher was going to talk about was material that the kids would need for the class room. However, he quickly found out that others were not so relaxed about taking their time. "Jesus! Watch where you're going!" He yelled, stumbling back into balance as the desk lady cleared her throat, a silent way of telling him to quiet down. The blonde hissed softly, shaking his hand as it'd been smacked by the knob, shot the other boy a rather nasty look, then pushed past him, heading off to first period.

Nao backpedaled quickly, his face bright red under his mop of dark brown hair. Gasping, he slid against the wall as the blonde shoved by, turning to watch him go.

"I... I'm sorry..." he mumbled to no avail, as the other didn't bother to look back.

Sighing, he rubbed his shoulder and stepped into the office, being more careful this time. Shaking with nerves, he told the secretary who he was and, after bowing under her terse glare for his tardiness, was sent to the guidance counselor's office for his schedule and, then to the library for his texts. It was into the third class before he got everything together.

Hurrying through the halls, he rushed into his classroom, hoping not to hit anyone this time.

As expected, the boy sat through a boring lecture about what supplies they would need to be prepared, what was expected, the school rules... Then the teacher made them get up along with the morning announcements presented by the class representative, and then they went about the rest of the period writing about their summer vacation.

Of course the boy made everything up. Something about a fun time in Hawaii and then spending the last month in Okinawa with his loving grandparents. It was easy to tell he was lying, he was pale this year. He would need to get out more, but he was sure he would. Looking around, he sighed, sitting back more in his seat as the bell rang for break. Some of the newer kids left to go to get their books, other's stayed put. Class A didn't move around until after third period.

So the new teacher came in, went along with the same agenda. Talked about what would be needed in their class and as history started, every year, they began reading from the class and taking notes.

When third period finally came around, Byou stretched his legs and locked hands with Hitsugi, grinning. "Where have you been?" He asked, as the boy chuckled and shrugged it off. "Forgot to turn on my alarm clock." He said softly, as Byou laughed, "Stupid. You missed it. I had to beat up some kid." He said, as Hitsugi's smile left him. "What? Who?" He asked, but the bell rang before the other could answer. They walked back to the classroom, sitting down into their regular seats and Byou looked over. "Hey, what happened to Reita?" He asked, as the other shrugged, "Heard he had to move." He said, as Byou hummed, nodding. It was normal for his boys to move around.

Sighing, Byou shifted, the tardy bell ringing, bringing in the last stragglers and, wouldn't you know it? The kid that had hit him with the door.

Stepping into the classroom, Nao handed the teacher his slip and went to find an open seat. Perfect. There was one near the back in the corner. Keeping his head down, he hurried over, sinking gratefully into it. He found the proper book in his bag and his notebook and pen, setting them neatly on the wooden platform of the desk. Waiting, he nervously fidgeted with his tie. Looking around, he tried to gauge his fellow students, wondering who might be good to talk to.

"Oh crap..." he muttered under his breath as he caught the stare of the guy he vaguely remembered as being the one he'd smacked with the door. "... not good..."

Turning his eyes back to his desk, he felt his cheeks heat up. Soon enough, the class started and he was dragged to the front by the teacher to introduce himself.

"H-hello," he said, his voice slightly shaky. "My name is Murai Naoyuki, but I prefer to be called Nao. Um... my family is new to the area, so I don't... don't really know anyone or anything around here. I... I like to take pictures." He gripped his camera in both hands. "But... but I won't take pictures of people without permission, so there's no need to worry about that. Uh... let's see... I hope I can make friends with some of you."

Bowing quickly, he beat a hasty retreat to his desk and was thankful that the lesson began right away.

Byou had rested his left foot against the window seat that Nao had taken, and pressing his cheek against his fist, he began to tune into what the other was saying to the class. With a smirk, he watched how the other twitched and fidgeted. He gave a certain look over to Hitsugi, before he looked back down to his notebook, flipping to a certain page. He couldn't spend too much time on the new boy. Not yet. He had things that he needed to arrange and take care of.

Things that he needed to resolve when he got home. He made a list of the boys so far in his little tightly nit group, going over their assets and what they were best at, then began making plans for the group of them together.

When the boy made his way back to his seat, Byou looked to the back of his head, and smirked again. He looked to Hitsugi once more and the boy looked back, making eye contact with him.

Quickly, he squiggled down a message to his friend, passing it to the boy quickly, as the other took it, read what was there, and hummed, writing back, lifting his hand to one of his newer piercings and twisting it lightly. When Byou got the letter back, he nodded and tore up the note, writing down some of the key points of the class.

When the bell finally rang, he felt his stomach start to growl, the boy standing up and walked ahead of most of the other people, one of the girls, touching at his shoulder and handed him a love note no doubt. Hitsugi, however, took his time with packing his things and waited for Nao to stand, then he brushed past him, making sure to knock into him a little before he looked back. "Watch where you're going boy." He said, shifting his bag and kept going.

Byou on the other hand had read the love letter and tossed it when he was out of view of the girl. She was cute and all, but at this time of the year, he didn't have time for girls. He had plenty that he could choose from within his group, if he needed someone to lay down at night with. Which he did often, but right now, he was too busy with everything else.

He got his lunch bag from his locker and headed out to the courtyard, moving over to his favorite table and sat down, pulling out what he'd packed himself for lunch and started eating quickly.

Nao almost fell back into his seat when the oddly pierced older boy hit him. Frowning, he mumbled an apology and finished bagging his items and filed out into the hall. The place was packed wall to wall with students, going every which way, talking and shouting to one another. Slipping into the milling crowd, he tried to find his way toward the cafeteria.

Still, he got turned around and ended up back where he started. Stepping into a corner, Nao gripped his camera in both hands and breathed deeply. Maybe his parents had been right. He should have stuck to the private schools, with the lines and procedures and order. This was... chaos. Pure chaos.

Checking his watch, he realized he was burning his lunch time up and he was starving. Taking another deep breath, he rejoined the flow of traffic and tried again.

Hitsugi had sat back and watched as the other had tried to get through the crowd like a leaf against the wind. It'd been almost painful to see him trying to join into the flow of the traffic, only to cut in front of just the wrong kind of person. You know that kind, that makes their own way and doesn't care who they're about to plow into? The poor kid seemed to be finding all of them.

So watching him, now, against the wall, nearly in tears, it was sad enough to get Hitsugi's mind whirling. He couldn't do much, but he could help the poor bastard out a little. He just had to do it without actually putting his hands on him or getting the poor kid into a fight. So when Nao finally squared his shoulders and tried his luck again, Hitsugi saw his opportunity, helped him get into the right flow with a few bumps in the right direction, courtesy of some other push over people, and then he made his move, bringing his hand down roughly against the other's books, flipping them out of his hands and spilling them and some papers from the previous class over the floor.

He kept moving, knowing that the flow of the hall would automatically maneuver around the kid and even though he was delayed by having to pick up his books and papers, he was now in the center of the flow and would be able to move a lot easier towards the cafeteria.

Congratulating himself on a job well done, his eyes spotted another pair that he smirked at the sight of, and bumped shoulders with the individual, looking back only briefly before he continued on his way.

When he was bumped, and his things went flying, it took every ounce of self control he could muster not to burst into tears right then. Looking up, he tried to find the person that had done it, but there were too many milling bodies and no one seemed to care. His fingers got stepped on a few times as he tried to gather everything, and a few hot tears escaped his lashes. Breathing hard, gasping, Nao was so close to losing it he couldn't handle it.

Suddenly, another set of hands came into view, holding up a few papers. Looking up, Nao met the eyes of a boy maybe a year older than himself. His round cheeks and shining smile lifted Nao's spirits a little. Mumbling a thank you, he took the papers and crammed them into his bag.

"I'm Yomi," the boy said, helping lift Nao to his feet. "Looks like you took a spill. Are you okay?"

Nao tried to speak, but he could only stutter. Grabbing his arm, Yomi steered Nao into the closest restroom and shoved him into a stall. Closing the door, he stood in front of it, holding it closed behind his back.

"Relax man, let it out," he said quietly. "But do it quick. People see you break, they'll eat you alive in this school."
